31 May TRC to Host “America’s Foremost Spirits Authority” F. Paul Pacult
The Ravens Club of Ann Arbor will host two events on July 23rd and 24th featuring F. Paul Pacult. A RUM dinner will take place on July 23rd, featuring a tasting of eight different styles of rum paired with four courses specially prepared by Chef Frank Fejeran. On July 24th, Pacult will teach a class on “tasting spirits like a pro,” including tastings of ten different types of spirits.
Pacult, a critic, journalist and consultant, has been the editor/publisher of F. Paul Pacult’s Spirit Journal since 1991. He co-hosted two nationally syndicated radio shows, The Happy Hour with Paul Pacult and Gary Regan (1997-1998) and Paul Pacult’s Good Life (1999). Pacult has also made appearances in two History Channel documentaries. For nearly a decade starting in 2000, he served as judging director of the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. He is also one of the founding members of Bar Smarts, a nationally acclaimed mixology training program.
Pacult has won numerous awards for his coverage of the world of spirits, including the Academy of Wine Communications’ award for wine journalism excellence in 2001 and the 2012 Cheers Conference trophy for “Raising the Bar” in spirits education. He is the only journalist worldwide to concurrently be a life member and Master of Keepers of the Quaich whisky society (Edinburgh, Scotland), a life member of Kentucky’s Bourbon Hall of Fame, and a life member of France’s Compagnie des Mouquetaires d’Armagnac (Company of Armagnac Musketeers). Pacult’s latest book: Kindred Spirits 3: All One Needs to Know About Spirits will be available in late 2014.
